One thing I ran into with my Air pro is the temp sensor in the device is super close to the processor, so as the device heats up, it couples into the temp sensor. This makes the device think the room is warmer than it is and it stops heating the room as a result. This makes “climate react” very unstable. If you go to your router and temporarily block the device on WiFi for 15 minutes, when you reconnect the WiFi (remove the router block) you will see the device think it is 4d F higher because it self heated searching for the WiFi signal. The Sensibo Sky doesn’t do this.

I have been driving EVs since 2014. Cold temperature will sap your range in no time. Charging will also take longer. I took delivery of my 2024 BZ4X XLE last week. Its UI could be better but overall it is not a bad EV at all (AWD is a different story I have read).

A question on the host that is running the VCSA instance. If you have like vMotion active to migrate hosts from a failed hosts (i.e. ESXI) to another ESXI in a cluster, what manages that? If its vCenter what happens if the host that contains the VCSA instance? does it just fail and not migrate anything over?

So, what justifies the conclusion that Proxmox is "the best" vSphere alternative? Everything I've read says it's not ready for anything other than a small business installation or home lab. What first- or third-party tools are there to support the selection of Proxmox? How have application and storage vendors stepped up to the possible adoption of Proxmox as a replacement for vSphere? Can Proxmox support VDI? How about a Citrix implementation? What about Proxmox participating in a unified enterprise backup solution? What tools are there to integrate an on premises Proxmox installation with AWS, Azure, or any of the other major cloud providers? Is Proxmox stable and manageable when you have more than, say, five hosts? Ten? One hundred? A thousand? Of all the alternatives to vSphere that I am aware of, including XCP-ng, which you mention, the only ones that I consider enterprise ready, or almost so, are Citrix (which nobody wants to touch, or consider; it doesn't even make any list I've seen), Hyper-V, and Nutanix. And that last one, well, that potentially is even more expensive than Broadcom's licensing of vSphere. Personally, I'm sticking with vSphere (and Aria, and Horizon, etc.) for the home lab. As for work, we're a big VMware shop, so we're not going anywhere.

Is there a 4 hour version of support available out there for it somewhere? Last I saw, it was like 8-5, with next day turnaround. Not really awesome for medium to larger customers. That being said, I really like proxmox, and I've been using vmware since probably 2003

Lol I don't know who's buying a server and doesn't know what they're buying. It's a pretty expensive thing to accidentally buy.

I sorta doubt VMWare is truly dying (yet). Yes, they are dead to me, but Broadcom is focusing VMWare on large enterprises that can afford to pay whatever is charged. It sucks for everyone else because now there is no longer a natural and organic learning curve for IT specialists nor an easy upgrade path as small companies become large ones. Very long term, this might hurt VMWare since they are pushing everyone else to either open source solutions or directly into the cloud. Once in the cloud - why bother moving back to on-prem especially if you have implemented a cloud-native architecture from the start?
